YAHUKIMO - One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Infantry Battalion 6 Marines, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in the Yahukimo Regency area, Papua Pegunungan Province. On Friday, 4 October 2024, the Marines Task Forces, especially the Halabok Post led by Captain Septian, held a Territorial activity entitled "Papua Terang (Bright Papua)." This program is an implementation of installing solar cell lamps in residential areas and on public roads in the Sokamu Village, Dekai District.
Commander of the Marines Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Rismanto Manurung, underscored the Task Forces' commitment to addressing the community's basic needs around the Halabok Post. In response, the Halabok Post has been actively observing and addressing the developments in its area since the beginning of its duties. Recognizing that lighting public places, especially roads and yards where residents live, is a basic necessity for the Sokamu community to facilitate activities at night, Captain Septian led his Soldiers to install solar cell lamps as public lighting facilities. Prior to this, 1LT Captain Septian discussed the location and need for the lighting installation with the Sokamu Village Leaders and Community Figures.
While maintaining security as their top priority during the lighting installation, the Soldiers received invaluable help and support from the residents. This collaborative effort, where the community played an integral role, ensured the smooth and efficient running of the installation process and surpassed the initial planning predictions. As a result, on Friday afternoon, the Sokamu residents were provided adequate lighting facilities. Welcoming the long-awaited public lighting installation, a Community Figure, Mr. Waipan Murib, expressed his gratitude, saying, 'Praise God, thank you Commander Marines. We are delighted that our Honais and Roads are no longer dark. God bless TNI.'
Upon receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, praised the Marines Task Forces’ inspiring initiative to hold the Bright Papua in Sokamu Village. His words, 'The Marines Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to provide the community’s basic need to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region.' He underscored the significant impact of such initiatives on the region's development. This recognition from the highest authority in HABEMA not only commends the Task Forces but also acknowledges the community's efforts, making them feel appreciated and respected. It instills hope and optimism about their potential to shape the region's future positively.
